Photo Challenge: Day 30: Perspectives

31/7/2012

Picture
On the left are the glasses through which I view the world - not rose-coloured, as you can see - and the country and culture we are currently experiencing.

What an amazing journey!

I had so much fun with this challenge over the last 30 days! It's actually a pity to think that I have achieved my goal and the challenge has come to an end.

I will start a new 30-day challenge soon (don't know what yet) but I will also create a new page on this website to continue sharing special photos / moments.

Thanks for those of you who encouraged me over the past 30 days to achieve my goal!

Did you know:
When a clock is hungry, it goes back four seconds!

Clocks
– A great way to pass time.
– Time flies when you're having fun.
– Time is not spherical, but the most awesome game known to man.
– Don't play if you don't have the time to learn.

Photo Challenge: Day 20: The deception of time ...

21/7/2012

According to BrainyQuotes, Charles Caleb Colton said:
Much may be done in those little shreds and patches of time which every day produces,
and which most men throw away.

This post is dedicated to Annie, who pointed out to me that we flew
from Indianapolis to Chicago in 5 minutes and from Chicago to Beijing in just over 2 hours
... yeah right!

Capitol Building

Indiana is one of the few states in the nation that has all three branches of government operating out of the historic state capitol building. In 1825, after nine years of statehood, the capitol city was relocated from Corydon to Indianapolis. Plans for the current statehouse began in 1867 and the building was completed in 1888. It is constructed of Indiana limestone and white oak. The beautuful stained glass rotunda window is original and made from German glass.

There was not much time today for photos or sight-seeing. We had a full day of training and then the conference dinner. It was a lovely evening with some excellent sales achievements being awarded.

I agree with Emma Goldman who said "I'd rather have roses on my table than diamonds on my neck." ... but don't tell my husband!

Photo Challenge: Day 9: Bags ...

10/7/2012

Picture
It's watermelon season in Beijing and this morning a colleague brought one into work. The ingenious carry bag got me off to a good start for today's photos.

I decided to pay attention to all the different kinds of bags I come across in my daily life. Below is a collection from today - in the office; on the way back home and, as I entered our apartment, on the coffee table.

You'll see the handbag I took to work today; the paper bag my morning coffee came in; the good old supermarket bag with my shopping for the day; a display of bags for sale in a shop window; a forgotten apple in a lost, see-through plastic bag on the pavement; a man carrying a backpack; a rubbish bag; and finally, on the coffee table as I entered our apartment, the Star of Outlook English Talent Competition carry bag and a lovely little silk herb bag - a present from one of the contestants.

B-A-G - such a short word for such a fascinating item!

Photo Challenge: Day 7: Impressive buildings and gardens ...

8/7/2012

I took these photos today while walking through the Grand Epoch City gardens.

Photo Challenge: Day 6: Flags ...

7/7/2012

Picture
Grand Epoch City, 50 km southeast of Beijing, was the venue for this year's CCTV Star of Outlook English Talent Competition.

Epoch City is a venue with various conference facilities, hotels and beautiful gardens.

One of the many halls, the Cocktail Garden, has hundreds of flags hanging from the ceiling. I didn't count, but I'm sure all of the almost 200 nations in the world are represented here ... impressive!

    Purpose

The first challenge I set myself was to take a photo / photos of something new, interesting  or inspiring for 30 consecutive days.

I was not allowed to go 'hunting' for photos. I had to share what came my way on any given day.

On the left are photos from the last 30 days ... enjoy!
